Here’s the photo gallery of my model of a Leopard 1, the first main battle tank produced in Germany after the Second World War.

I built this model, the sixth I've completed so far, from September to December 2013. It shows a Leopard 1A4 main battle tank, into service in the West German Army since 1974.

Leopard 1A4 – Filters and weathering

I used some oil filters on this Leopard 1 model to give more depth to his flat camouflage color, then I added some weathering using pigments.

Filters are critical to give our model more depth, whereas the weathering phase helps to achieve a more realistic look.

Leopard 1A4 – Assembling and painting

This Leopard 1 model is well detailed, I had no difficulties in assembling it. Then I chose a solid color painting scheme for its camouflage.

Looking for a "modern one" I came across this 1974 kit, reissued by Italeri (using the brand of that period, Italaerei) in a limited-edition "Vintage Collection" series.
